Easter Jiu-Jitsu Camp in Nottingham – Building Confidence, Skills and Teamwork

Easter Jiu-Jitsu Camp in Nottingham - Building Confidence, Skills and Teamwork

Our Easter Jiu-Jitsu Camp in Nottingham was a fantastic day packed with energy, learning, and fun. At Gracie Barra Arnold, we aim to create experiences that go beyond just training, and this camp was a perfect example of how Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for kids helps build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

From the moment the day began, the mats were full of excitement as students got involved in a variety of games, drills, and challenges designed to develop both physical and mental skills.

A Fun and Active Start

We kicked off the day with a warm up focused on cardio and strength-based games, helping the kids get moving while building fitness in a fun and engaging way.

Throughout the morning, students took part in interactive activities that challenged their coordination, balance, and reactions. These types of games are a key part of kids martial arts training, helping children learn while staying fully engaged.

Learning Jiu-Jitsu in a Fun Way

A big focus of the camp was developing open guard skills, using games and drills to help students understand positioning, movement, and control.

By learning through structured activities rather than just repetition, the students were able to improve their awareness and decision making in a natural and enjoyable way.

We also introduced basic competition rules and ran match scenarios to help them understand how to score, giving students a clear idea of how their training translates into a live match setting. This is a key step in building confidence, especially for those new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions.

Building Friendships On and Off the Mats

After a busy morning of training, everyone had the chance to relax, socialise, and enjoy time together away from the mats.

This is a huge part of what makes kids Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra Arnold so valuable. It is not just about learning techniques, but about building friendships, improving social skills, and feeling part of a team. You can read more about the benefits in our Parents Guide to Kids BJJ.

Confidence, Teamwork and Effort

The afternoon focused on team-based challenges and friendly competition, where students worked together, supported each other, and pushed themselves.

What stood out most was the effort from every single child. Whether they were stepping outside their comfort zone, trying something new, or encouraging their teammates, the attitude across the board was outstanding.

This is exactly why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best activities for kids. It helps children develop discipline, confidence, and resilience that carries into everyday life .

The way everyone got on and supported each other also reflects the strong sense of community we build at Gracie Barra Arnold, where every student feels part of the team .
